Central Tasar Research and Training Institute, Ranchi, an Institute of Central Silk Board provided R&D, Training and Extension support for development of tropical and temperate tasar silk.
The laboratories are equipped with all modern facilities to carry out research in all disciplines including molecular biology and biotechnology.
The Research units situated in North-east and North-west regions of the country provide support for the development of Oak tasar silk industry.
The training programmes are tailor made to suit the needs of the Departments of Sericulture of States, farmers and other Stake holders.
The Extension support provided by the nested units has resulted in attaining the present level of silk production in the country.
